Yahweh our Elohim

Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Yahshua Messiah for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Yahweh our Elohim will call.” Acts 2: 38-39

Now we are commanded to repent and believe before we are baptized

Repentance is merely a translation from the original biblical language of Hebrew and Greek. The words from which ‘repent’ is translated means to turn or return, to turn away from evil and to returning to  YAHWEH, to change direction. Repentance means you have to admit you have been going in the wrong direction. You have to admit you have been wrong. You have believed wrong. You have lived wrong. You have done wrong. You are wrong, through and through. You repent of your old way of life and turn to YAHWEH’s way of life.

Now we are commanded to repent and believe before we are baptized because baptism is only the outward ceremony picturing the fact that you have repented, that the old life is gone, you have admitted how wrong you are and now you are starting a totally new type of life.

Beginning with Adam and Ave, every human being except Yahshua Messiah has walked contrary to YAHWEH’s way of life. We have all contributed our share of this world’s sins. Therefore , just as through one man sin entered the world and death through sin and so death spread to all men because all sinned. Romans 5:12. You are of your father the devil and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murder from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. John 8:44. Human nature, it is in reality Satan’s nature, it was imparted to mankind by that fallen cherub [archangel] known as Satan the devil. Satan broadcast [sow] attitudes of vanity, selfishness, greed, covetousness, lust, jealousy, criticism, envy, resentment, hatred, bitterness and rebellion, which our mind receive. Satan is revealed as god of this world. 2 Corinthians 4:4. He deceived all nations. So the great dragon was cast out that serpent of old called the Devil and Satan who deceives the whole world, he was cast to the earth and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:9.

He is further revealed as the “the prince” of power of air, the spirit that now work in the children of disobedience. Ephesians 2:2.

These attitudes of Satan in the human mind are what we have come to call human nature [Satan nature] 

There is only this one way to have our sins blotted out, only one way to enter the kingdom of YAHWEH as a glorified member of YAHWEH’s family and this way involves repentance.

Repentance is a change of mind and attitude. It is a change from the carnal attitude of hostility towards YAHWEH, of rebellion against YAHWEH’s Law, to the opposite attitude of love, submission, obedience and worship of YAHWEH and reliance on Him. It is an about-face, a complete U-turn and reversal of direction [180 degree] in attitude and intent, to the way of YAHWEH’s righteousness.

Repentance simply means giving up your way and turning to YAHWEH’s way, it means surrender, unconditional surrender to live by every Word of YAHWEH. Since the Bible is the Word of YAHWEH, it means to live by the Bible, it means absolute voluntary submission to the authority of YAHWEH as expressed in His Word [Bible]

When we begin to demonstrate our heartfelt desire to change and ask YAHWEH to forgive our past way of life, He applies the sacrifice of Messiah on our behalf, we then forgiven and freed from the guilt and penalty of eternal our past sins, the penalty of eternal death no longer hangs over our heads. For YAHWEH so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For YAHWEH did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world [people], but that the world [people] through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of only begotten Son of YAHWEH. John 3:16-18.  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned we make Him a liar and His word is not in us. 1 John 8-10. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of YAHWEH. Romans 3:23. Therefore, just as through one man [Adam] sin and thus death spread to all men because all sinned. For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed [ascribe] when there is no law. Romans 5:12-13.

For there is not a just man on earth who does good and does not sin. Ecclesiastes 7:20. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of YAHWEH [Yahshua] was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of YAHWEH does not sin, for His seed [Ruach] remains in him and he cannot sin because he has been born of YAHWEH. 1 John 3:8-9. How much more shall the blood of Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to YAHWEH, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living YAHWEH? Hebrews 9:14. Because the carnal mind [human nature] is enmity against YAHWEH for it is not subject to the law of YAHWEH nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please YAHWEH. Romans 8:7-8.

For what man know the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one know the things of YAHWEH except the Spirit of YAHWEH. 1 Corinthians 2:11. But we are all like an unclean thing and all our righteousness are like filthy rags, we all fade as a leaf and our iniquities like the wind, have taken us away. And there is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of You, for You have hidden Your face from us, and have consumed us because of our iniquities. Isaiah 64:6-7. So Yahshua said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One that is YAHWEH. Luke 18:19.

Who gives Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age [world] according to the will of our Elohim and Father to be glory forever and ever. Galatians 1:4-5. And do not be confirmed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of YAHWEH. Romans 12:2.

Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. Proverbs 28:13. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of YAHWEH is eternal life in Yahshua Messiah our Master. Romans 6:23.                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Truly these times of ignorance YAHWEH overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man [Yahshua] whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. Acts 17:30-31.                                                                                                                                                                                                        

But YAHWEH demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Messiah died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to YAHWEH through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled , we shall be saved by His life and not only that , but we also rejoice in YAHWEH through our Master Yahshua Messiah through whom we have now received the reconciliation. Romans 5:8-11. 

The, He said to them, “Thus it is written and thus it was necessary for the Messiah to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24:46-47. 

In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand! The Jerusalem, all Judea and all the region around the Jordan went out to him and were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. Matthew 3:1-2, 5-6.                                                                       Now after John was put in prison Yahshua came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of YAHWEH and saying, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of YAHWEH is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel. Mark 1:14-15.

From that time Yahshua began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matthew 4:17.

There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Yahshua answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Luke 13:1-5.

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostle, “Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said to them, “Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Yahshua Messiah for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of Ruach haQodesh [Holy Spirit] Acts 2:37-38.

Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of YAHWEH. Acts 3:19.                                                                                                                                          

Now the works of the flesh [fruits of evil spirit] are evident which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lascivious, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, arguments, jealousies, and outbursts of anger, selfish ambitions, and conflicts, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, noise parties. Galatians 5:19-21.

Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your member? Adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with YAHWEH? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of YAHWEH. James 4:1-4.                                                                                

But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of YAHWEH. Romans 2:5. You are of your father the devil and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murder from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. In which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the son of disobedience. Ephesians 2:2.

Then death and Hades [grave] were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death and anyone not found written in the Book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:14-15.                                                                       

For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven and all the proud, yes all who do wickedly will be stubble and the day which is coming shall burn them up, “Says YAHWEH of hosts {EL SABAOTH]. That will leave them neither root [Israelite] nor branch [Gentiles]. Malachi 4:1.                                                                                                   

YAHWEH is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

And even as they did not like to retain YAHWEH in their knowledge YAHWEH gave them over to a corrupt mind, to do those things which are not fitting, being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness, they are whispers, backbiters, haters of YAHWEH, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful. Romans 1:28-31.

And for this reason YAHWEH will send them strong delusion that they should believe the lie that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12. 

Repent, turn away from your idols and turn your faces away from all your abominations. Even if these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job, were in it, they would deliver only themselves by their righteousness, says YAHWEH Elohim. Ezekiel 14:6, 14.

Wash yourself, make yourselves clean, put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes, cease to do evil. Learn to do good, seek justice, rebuke the oppressor, defend the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now and let us reason together, “Says YAHWEH, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land, but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword, “for the mouth of YAHWEH has spoken. Isaiah 1:16-20.                                                                                                                             YAHWEH has been very angry with your fathers. Therefore say to them, “Thus says YAHWEH of hosts [EL SABAOTH] “Return to Me, says YAHWEH of hosts [EL SABAOTH] and I will return to you says YAHWEH of hosts [EL SABAOTH] “Do not be like your fathers to whom the former prophets preached, saying, “Thus says YAHWEH of hosts [EL SABAOTH] “Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds”                         Zechariah 1:2-4.                                                                                            

Now, therefore, “says YAHWEH, “Turn to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping and with mourning” So rend your heart and not your garments, return to YAHWEH your Elohim, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness and He relents from doing harm. Joel 2:12-13.  Come near to YAHWEH and He will come near to you. Wash your hands you sinners and purify your hearts you double-minded. James 4:8.

Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. Revelation 2:5                                                                                                                                                                                    But if a wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed, keeps all My statutes and does what is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die, none of the transgressions which he has committed shall be remembered against him because of the righteousness which he has done, he shall live.  Ezekiel 18:21-22.                                                                                                                                                                                       

For godly sorrow produce repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted but the sorrow of the world produces death. For observe this very thing that you sorrowed in a godly manner, what diligence it produced in you, what clearing of yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what intense desire, what zeal, what vindication! 2 Corinthians 2:10-11.

Search me, O YAHWEH and know my heart, try me and know my anxieties and see if there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalms 139:23-24.                                                                                                           O YAHWEH, I know the way of man is not in himself, it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.  O YAHWEH, correct me, but with justice not in Your anger lest You bring me to nothing.                                    Jeremiah 10:23-24.                                                                                                                                                                                          In humility correcting those who are in opposition, if YAHWEH perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:25-26.                                                                                                When they heard these things they became silent and they glorified YAHWEH, saying, “Then YAHWEH has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life”  Acts 11:18.                                                                                                               

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets and they shall all be taught by YAHWEH , therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me. John 6:44-45.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Our patriarchs’ likes of David, as soon as they realize that YAHWEH is displeased with them, they repent. David sincere heartfelt repentant attitude before YAHWEH reconciled him to YAHWEH. David did not minimize his sin, he did not attempt to justify it. He did not try to explain it away nor did he blame it on others, rather, he was horrified at what he had done and simply prostrated himself before YAHWEH and implored His mercy and forgiveness. He confessed what he had done, what he was and asked YAHWEH to clean him up spiritually. Have mercy upon me, O YAHWEH, according to Your loving-kindness, according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions and my sin is always before me. Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities, create in me a clean heart, O YAHWEH and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence and do not take Your Ruach haQodesh [Holy Spirit] from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Psalms 51:1-3, 9-12.

What did Job say when finally stripped of his self-righteous shell? For the first time in his life after his ego had been deflated completely, Job got his self-centered mind off himself and really grasped the awesome power and majesty of YAHWEH. I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eyes sees You. Therefore I abhor myself and repent in dust and ashes. Job: 42:5-6.                                                                            After I strayed, I repented, after I came to understand, I beat my breast, I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth. Jeremiah 31:19.                                                                                                                                                                                      That is the basic attitude we should have when we repent of our sins.

Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “Who are these arrayed in white robes and where did they come from? And I said to him, “Sir, you know” So he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation and washed their robes and make them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore they are before the throne of YAHWEH and serve Him day and night in His temple and He who sits on the throne will dwell among them. They shall neither hunger anymore nor thirst anymore , the sun shall not strike them nor any heat, for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherded them and lead them to living fountains of waters and YAHWEH will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7: 13-17. 

Repentance means obeying and keeping YAHWEH’s law, because sin is transgression of law. 1 John 3:4. The law of YAHWEH is a spiritual mirror into which one may look to find the spiritual dirt [sin] on one’s mind and heart. The mirror is not responsible for the presence of the dirt or for the harm the dirt may cause. The function of the mirror [the law] is to show the dirt, so that one may do something about it, repent of sin and become cleansed and thus become free from fears, from misery, from penalties of sin, free from the bondage of Satan’s way.

Therefore the law is holy and the commandment holy and just and good. Romans 7:12. YAHWEH’s law is the way to peace, happiness and joy. It is YAHWEH’s greatest gift to mankind given to make man happy, to lead him into the full, abundant life, both in this life and for all eternity. The evils mankind suffers from today are not caused by the law, but by the breaking of it! Our heavenly Father many times begins to deal with us and bring us to repentance through chastening [cleaning]. Often He allows financial problems, family problems, sickness or other serious situations to develop in our lives which will force us to realize our need of Him and repent.                                                                                                                        

For whom YAHWEH loves He chastens and scourges every son whom He receives. But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful, nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:6, 8, 11. YAHWEH is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but YAHWEH delivers him out of them all. Psalms 34:18-19. Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of YAHWEH leads you to repentance? Romans 2:4. If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in place. 2 Chronicles 7:14-15.                      

Repentance is the most bitter pill to swallow, yet it is the only medicine in all of our life that could bring a healing which is eternal life!

Have you really repented? Have you come to the point in your life where you want to give up walking contrary to YAHWEH and surrender yourself completely to Him?

Have you come to the place where you see yourself as you really are, as YAHWEH sees you? Have you ‘seized yourself up’ means of the Ten Commandments as magnified by the entirely of YAHWEH’s Word and seen where you fall short? Are you willing to keep all of YAHWEH’s Commandments?

Unless you have come to see yourself as Job saw himself. Unless you have cried out to YAHWEH for merciful forgiveness as David did. Unless you have begun to change your attitudes, your thoughts, your actions and your ways. Unless you have been really broken up about your past life. Unless you have made a complete about-face [U-turn 180] in your life. Unless you have done these things, it is clear from what you have learned that you simply have not yet even begun to start the Believer’s way of life.

Examine yourself

Notice what the Apostle Paul says, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. 2 Corinthians 13:5. 

By comparing your life, thoughts, words, and actions with the Word of YAHWEH. YAHWEH’s eyes are upon those who are of a meek and contrite spirit, those who tremble before the two-edged sword of His Word. YAHWEH recognizes a repentant attitude, a broken spirit, a humble seeking for forgiveness and mercy, He will truly honor all who turn from works and deeds His Word defines as sin. 

True repentance requires a permanent change of direction. It is a total commitment to a course from which there is no turning back. It is not a temporary, spontaneous emotional response. So popular today in ‘religious revival’ meetings. Repentance and surrendering to YAHWEH is not a matter of giving up everything good. Repentance is positive and does not mean we must give up the use or appreciation of material things. 

Have you really repented?

Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance. Matthew 3:8.
